Day 195: My Long, Luscious Hair

Like most women, my hair is my biggest accessory! I mean let's face it, when your hair looks great, you feel great! And when it's a bad hair day, well let's just say it could be a bad day! You know what I'm talking about don't you gals!

And if you think I'm making this up, check out the billions spent on hair products and accessories every year by consumers. It's a booming business my friends. For most of us, regular maintenance of our mane includes a cut & color. But nowadays the stakes have been raised and there's so much more offered to "spoof" up the doo.

Everyone from celebrities to "housewives" are adding locks with extensions of every variety. It no longer is just for movie stars, the average gal can have the hair she's always desired!

I've worn hair extensions for years and the products keep improving. You have your weaves but now your wefts as well. There are sewn in weaves and clip ons. And your color options have increased as well. There's not just highlights anymore, but now lowlights to add dimension and character to your style, which I now have.

There's lots of discussion about whether women of a certain age should continue wearing their hair long, or cut it off. Are you kidding me! If women have beautiful and healthy locks, keep them any length that you are comfortable with is what I say! When I was young in my 20s and on television I had short hair. It was a great look for me. My hair was easy to manage and always looked professional, but fun and youthful too. Now in my 40s my hair is the longest it's ever been, of course with assistance (those extensions!).

I was never one of those girls with the long flowing thick hair and I always wanted that kind of hair. Now I get to have that hair and I'm lovin' it. Ladies, whatever makes you feel strong, powerful, sexy, and a champion is the look you should go for and if that means enhancing your hair, go for it!

Here are my recommended hair ladies. For the BEST cuts, color and blow-drys check out my ladies at Salon Dione, owners Rebecca & Eka will hook you up! http://www.salondione.com/

For extensions I've got two superstar ladies for you. Karisma has been weaving my locks for the past year and she makes house calls http://www.karismacompany.com/

And my sister Michele turned me on to another hot hair spot. Hair in Vogue in Brentwood. Owner Linda will analyze your hair and consult with you on her recommendations. She too provides gorgeous hair for purchase and performs outstanding weaves. http://www.hairinvogue.com/

Whatever your desired style, know that the options are limitless these days. I remember when the only hair accessory you could find was a wig, but nowadays we have many more choices. So if you are feeling like you need a "pick me up" with your style, color or length, I say go bold and go big girls!

Day 93: Multi Tasking ...Women Do It So Well

Why are women so good at multi tasking? Hmm, I'm not an anthropologist so I can't really give the history behind why we are so good at juggling so many projects at once, but I know we are damn good at it! Last night was a perfect example of how we can accomplish so much at one time!

I had gal pal and computer whiz Rebecca Simon over to help address my campaign website which I am morphing into a website profiling my personal & professional endeavors ... and finally taking down the campaign literature. She was joined by another gal pal of mine who is a webmaster Karisma Schackelford, who is also my "hair" lady. So while we tackled upgrades and edits for my website, Karisma was also tending to my hair, while we also handled childcare for her son who was playing with my son's old Lego's.

And while this was all happening the college son was picking up the two younger teenagers with friends and handling dinner. In between this, neighbor gal pal Teresa Jones Grossman came over with her cooking pal to borrow ingredients for a chili dish she is preparing for the Beverly Hills Farmer's Market Chili Cookoff, and as if the house wasn't full enough, gal pal Jenny Savitsky stopped by to borrow a colorful suit jacket for professional photographs she was having taken! All these amazing women involved in multiple projects and everyone is helping everyone get the job done!

That's what it is all about. We can't do all that we do without the support of our gal pals. Everyone chipping in to help with the children, or dinner, or to borrow items from - including everything from food to a black tie dress, to editing a resume to introducing each other to one another as great resources -- it really does take a village to not just raise the children, but to keep us adult ladies sane.

Managing so many pending projects at the same time takes a lot of coordination, organization and help from your friends. Using your time wisely is an art and contributes to making you feel like SuperWoman! Last night the house was rockin' as we kept all us great women moving toward our respective goals. Yeah, we all should feel like SuperWoman!

Day 25: I Need A Good Laugh & Good Hair

After this week, I need a good laugh! I thought you could all use one too. So today's post will be short & sweet because I am physically & emotionally drained after the week's happenings ...

Have you ever driven your kids to school in your pajamas? And worried that you might get pulled over for speeding? Well no that didn't happen to me, but I have often thought what would I do if I got pulled over in my PJ's on PCH? Well, the other day I was getting my hair done early in the morning and I wanted to be cozy & comfortable and enjoy my blow-dry ... so I wore my jammies & robe to the salon. See the photo above for proof!

Sometimes we just have to be a little goofy and poke fun at ourselves. All this serious stuff can cause you to go batty. So if you ever want to experience the true comforts of the salon, go in your pajamas!

And for a GREAT blow-dry, or color, or highlights, please visit my beautiful gals Eka & Rebecca, owners of Salon Dione who always take care of me no matter what I am wearing! 310.841.6777 or www.SalonDione.com

And for those of you who don't know, I have gorgeous extensions! Nowadays there are so many fabulous ways to add a little umph to your hair so if you are interested, contact Karisma Shackelford at Karisma@extensionsofyou.biz She makes house calls! Could it be any better!

In all seriousness, I did have a rough week with medical challenges and a personal upset which I'll share at another time, so I needed to add some sunshine to my thoughts and this picture makes me smile! Have some fun & always remember to laugh at yourself every once in awhile!
