Today is Memorial Day. Every year small American flags are placed on every grave at the National Memorial Cemetery in Westwood Village. It's quite a powerful image to see so many red, white and blue flags on so many graves. I have grown up seeing this image for 49 years ... to this day it still gives me goose bumps. To think of all those young lives cut short fighting for us...Today is a day we should pause and give thanks to those that came before us. The men and women who served bravely to protect the freedoms we have in our country is what today's "day off from work & school" is suppose to be about.
So while you're grilling the chicken & sipping margarita's with friends this afternoon,
be grateful that despite its' faults, America is still the best country in the world to live. May it be a peaceful day and a somber day of remembrance.
